We are often asked the question "What is the difference between "residential" care and "nursing" care homes?"

Residential Care

In a residential care home you will find care assistants who will tend to the residents care needs. It is not necessary to have  qualified nurses in a residential setting.

If there is a need for a nurse to tend to a resident then a district nurse would be contacted to call at the Home and they would attend to whatever nursing need was required i.e. wound dressing etc

Nursing Care

In a nursing home there are care assistants but there will also be qualified nurses employed by the Care Home.

Nurses will have a RGN qualification which is a Registered General Nurse or they may also have a RMN qualification which is a registered Mental Nurse.

Testimonials

“Hillcrest Alnwick's carer's charming smiles and demeanour has shown warmth, kindness and loving care to my wife, which has helped me in many ways to come to terms with what to me, was the hardest decision of my life to place my wife in care.”
